Though this property dates from the 11th century, its charming architecture has been given modern updates such as a sound system, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and heating. Still, you may feel like you’ve stepped back in time in sitting and dining rooms with exposed wood ceiling beams, stone walls and cozy leather club chairs.

Castello di Vicarello has four bedrooms in its main house and four in its garden suites; all eight have en-suite bathrooms and several have features like private entrances, lounge areas, kitchenettes and terraces. In the main house, there are three bedrooms with king beds and one with a queen bed. Likewise, the garden suites have three bedrooms with king beds and one with two queen beds.

The estate itself offers the opportunity to learn about local produce in the kitchen gardens, take a course in the medieval kitchen or even help with the grape and olive harvests, giving you a sense of the rhythms of Tuscan life. But if you can’t get enough of the region, it’s a 90-minute drive or less to the city of Siena and several beaches on the Mediterranean shore.

The gourmet menus are based on local recipes, using the own Castle’s production and wines from the local vineyards. Guests can enjoy summer dinners under the stars, while the winter season offers warm meals by the fireplace. Cooking lessons and wine tasting are available on request. A sweet and savory breakfast is served daily.

Roses, jasmine and countless native flowers mix themselves with ancient lemon and olive trees in the castle's garden. Less than one hour's drive from the hotel guests can also enjoy 2 golf course facilities. Hunting excursions are possible during the season.

The village of Paganico is 6.8 mi away, while Grosseto's town center is 22 mi away. The picturesque coastal town of Castiglione della Pescaia is 35 mi from the property. Siena is less than 1 hour away by car.
