Ylang Ylang Villas, Dominica, Caribbean Vacation Rental
Marveling at how the villas and their vast balconies are surrounded by trees, these residences have been called love nests, “bowers of bliss” or magical treehouse escapes. Rising up from the ground from a single stem, the Ylang Ylang Villas present a stunning architectural creation. Marveling at how the villas and their vast balconies are surrounded by trees, these residences have been called love nests, “bowers of bliss” or magical treehouse escapes.
The villas feature one bed and bath, a fully equipped kitchen in the verandah, two decks, an elevated pool directly accessible from the bedroom, a barbecue and a hammock sofa—the ideal setting for an unforgettable retreat. Rare, sensuous, relaxing, wild. Approximately 2,030 sq ft include an inside space of 365 sq ft, covered terrace 365 sq ft, covered outdoor living 730 sq ft, pool deck 430 sq ft, and pool 140 sq ft. Each villa includes a Culligan Water Filtration System, which guests may drink from branded takeaway borosilicate water bottles as a means of enforcing its zero-tolerance policy for single-use plastic.
The villas are called Ylang Ylang because their shape resembles the petals of this legendary flower, one that first originated in Indonesia, yet these days can be found growing on our property. Even its name is shrouded in mystery, either meaning ‘wilderness’, or ‘rare’. It fits perfectly to our location and the experiences we offer. One of the world’s last and most unspoilt islands, Dominica fosters complete immersion in the healing powers of nature and allows modern-day travelers to reap the nourishing rewards of a lush, sparsely populated ecosystem. Engage in transformation travel by connecting with the abundance of natural splendors including 365 rivers to the second largest boiling lake in the world, subterranean volcanoes, mountains, waterfalls, hot springs and both black and white sand beaches, coral reefs, bird watching, horseback riding, zip lining, rainforest, forest bathing, lionfish hunt, whale watching, sunset sail, scuba diving, hiking, canyoning, National Parks, Protsmouth Saturday Market, art classes, Batibou Beach, sulphur spas, Cold Soufriere (hot spring that isn’t hot), Titou Gorge and hot spring, botanical garden, a boiling lake and the awe-inspiring Emerald Pool.
All rates include a pre-stocked Organic Breakfast Basket, filled with a supply of farm fresh eggs, organic fruit and all homemade granola, yogurt, bread, jam, dried fruit and local lemongrass and cocoa teas, and replenished on request for the guests’ duration of stay, plus full use of the Secret Bay site and amenities, including GoPros, kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling and swimming gear. Guests arrive to a pre-stocked villa (based on items selected on the pre-arrival questionnaire). Pre-stocked items are billed at check-out. Guests also have exclusive use of the enchanting Wild Orchid Garden Decks—the perfect spot for secluded romance and relaxation or to watch the sun slowly set into the sea.
Dining
Guests are given the option of dining at Zing Zing Restaurant or in their villa (inside or on their private deck). Zing Zing, the resort’s open-air restaurant, offers a “no menu” concept, meaning no heavy mass production or storage, creating a curated dining experience. Tables are arranged six feet apart. If dining in-villa, the guest’s personal villa host can serve meals, or they may schedule a cooking class with the executive chef. We believe food is our greatest source of health and vitality and, thus, our culinary journey is largely based on wholesome eating. Our fresh, clean, local and sustainable meals are as nutrient rich as they are delicious, and our Executive Chef has a unique focus on superfoods. Healthy juices and smoothies are offered in addition to daily immune-boosting shots, native herbal teas, local bush remedies and even superfood-fortified cocktails. Various menu options are available including a “3-course discovery experience” at our restaurant and full board options (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner). Meals are ordered à la carte, prepared in our central kitchen and served in-villa.
Children under 18 years old are welcome in any of our one-bedroom villas with a signed liability waiver from an accompanying parent or guardian. This property is located on elevated, sloping land, near cliff edges and there are no safety measures or barriers of any kind for children. Our beaches are secluded, with no lifeguard on duty.
Both within and beyond resort grounds await a host of perspective-shifting, life-altering experiences. Whether you choose to journey “within” alongside our seasoned healers, explore the living, breathing rainforest or rappel into the depths of the island on a waterfall canyoning adventure, guests are guaranteed to leave Dominica forever changed. Rediscover your childlike enthusiasm for exploring and living each moment that the day brings.
Dominica has an exceptionally verdant and diverse ecosystem, just begging to be explored. It is from this ecosystem that residents and travelers receive constant exposure to beneficial minerals, good bacteria and the fundamentally important free electrons that cover the Earth’s surface — not to mention pure drinking water and a nutrient-rich local diet. Dominica’s small population and low density allow us to effectively manage guests’ off-site adventures, allowing total freedom and wonderment while exploring the island.
Green & Clean Practices
We are a Green Globe Certified property with a deep commitment to sustainability. In addition to having built the resort to be in harmony with nature, staff employ ‘green’ standard operating procedures and sanitization practices, which protect guests and staff as well as our precious island. All cleaning is executed with the use of EPA approved eco-friendly products from Ecolab International while wearing branded washable face masks and biodegradable gloves. Hand sanitizer is produced on-site and dispensed from sanitized glass containers.
