Aspen has been known as one of the top jet setting locations on the globe. There is really no place like it, not just because people like to ski, but because people like the entire “idea” of Aspen. Aspen in itself offers the Novice to the more advanced skier a place to call home. You can take it to all the way to Ajax Mountain where you’ll find the more advanced skiers or you can keep it simple on The Buttermilk Slopes. Yet no matter which area you prefer, you’ll always find there’s something for you to try.
The celebrity sightings are really one of the most intriguing part of the Snowmass Experience. People flock from all over the world to try and get a glimpse of a celebrity either out on the slopes or enjoying a night on the town. And they won’t be disappointed! Most celebrities who ski will oftentimes stay in Aspen during the entire ski season, holding up in a private home or chalet that is typically ski in ski out. During the holidays you’ll find them out and about shopping and enjoy the holiday festivities, so if you’re hoping for a peak, this is probably the best time to go. Expect rates to be very high during this time, as this is the premium time for skiing and for a high level of bookings.
If you’re not in town to ski, try the numerous hiking trails, such as: West Maroon Trail, Crater Lake Trail, Rio Grande Trail or Grottos Trail. You may also like the scenic drives down Independence Pass. So don’t worry, if you’re not looking for skiing you can still be outdoors and get some exercise without the idea of inflicting serious harm on yourself, especially if you don’t like skiing.
In Aspen you’ll be sure to find posh shopping and terrific dining as well. And most people who enjoy those two combined also find the nightlife important and Aspen offers some great nightlife: Eric’s Bar is fun and friendly with a great atmosphere, Caribou Club is very posh and has a membership fee but if you enjoy that crowd the 500 tab may be worth it, Belly Up offers some great Blues and entertainment so go here if you want to relax and get away. There are so many bars and restaurants, too many to list, so if you think you’ll be bored, don’t worry you won’t be.
