Villa le Scale, stark white and majestic, sits regally atop two full acres of tiered gardens. A sun dappled, marble staircase that leads from the gated entry to the villa's main door is swathed in lilac, hydrangea and impatience.

Each landing of this grand staircase gives way to a unique tier of the garden. On a leisurely stroll through the grounds, guests find cactus gardens under ancient pines, a goldfish filled fountain in an almost hidden nook, bronze and marble statues, a gazebo covered in jasmine and another laced with passion flower. A small water fall creates a stream than flows under a stone walkway into a water therapy course.

By day exotic songbirds, a myriad of colors and perfumed blooms come together to ignite the senses. By night, specially designed lighting combines with the starlit sky to create an atmosphere of sublime romance.

Villa le Scale is one of the few remaining historic houses on the Isle of Capri. The villa dates back to the early 19th century and was once the summer home of the Barone Monti delle Corte, a family who represented the union of two royal families.

Left abandoned and in disrepair for many years, Villa le Scale has been lovingly restored to it's former glory by it's current owner, an internationally renowned fine fine arts and antiques dealer. Maintaining a healthy respect for the past while keeping an eye on the future, the villa has been brought into the twenty-first century with care.

Only the finest materials and laborious old world craftsmanship were employed in the restoration. The result is a villa which has become the luxury retreat of choice on the island.

Capri has been a preferred destination of the rich and famous for the last two thousand years. With majestic landscapes, fantastic sea views and proximity to the glorious Amalfi Coast its not hard to understand why.

History buffs will enjoy exploring the ruins of Emporer Tiberius' Palace, the Augustinian Gardens, the Villa Axel Munthe and more. Nature lovers can explore the Blue Grotto, Monte Solaro and the Walk of the Forts. For more urbane pleasures there is always world class shopping on Via Camerelle and the people watching is second to none in Capri's Piazza Umberto.
