Mooney Bay is a 22 acre resort property which is only accessible by boat. It is divided into 4 bungalows spread around a main central living, dining and lounge facility and connected by garden paths and stone walkways throughout the property. The estate embodies the barefoot chic nature of Virgin Gorda, where comfort and luxury mesh with island simplicity for a rustic elegance. Kick your shoes off upon arriving, have a glass of champagne and let the attentive and engaged staff cater to your needs from gourmet meals and ocean side massages, to sand castles with the kids and tubing runs on the estate's boat.

 

Traditional wooden louvers with sweeping views. Cool distinctive red hewn tile floors, dark wooden beams and ceilings, swirling fans, and minimalist Balinese furniture bring you back to a bygone era of simplicity. Bathrooms blend with carved stone sinks, open showers, luxurious, thick towels and aromatherapy amenities from Le Occitane en Provence. All suites supplied with bathrobes, slippers, iPod docks, reading lights, bottled water and toiletries.

 

Iguana Master Suite: sits atop the property with a large living space, tented 4 poster bed, walk in closet, and open bathroom plan. Pelican and Egret Suites: sit atop the property, king beds with cozy reading area or daybed, stone decks and shared en-suite. Conch and Coral Suites: poolside and beach views with sitting area or daybed, shared stone deck and adjoining bathroom. Turtle Suite: nestled into the gardens with small seating area and its own external shower. Egret and Coral Suites may have an extra child under 9 years in room.

Island breezes drift through the screened dining pavilion, large windows surround on all sides and within steps of the gardens, the beach and the swimming lounge. Whether it be wine and tapas or Sunday brunch, the breakfast bar plays host to the heart of the kitchen, bringing friends and family together to mingle, dine and toast. The kitchen's open theme invites all to pitch in and ample room for our chefs to cater to families, receptions and groups.

 

Mooney Bay Estate offers all-inclusive stays with our chef and Host presenting daily breakfasts lunches, and dinners ranging from 3-course Pan-Asian delights to island style BBQs. Snacks, drinks, and alcoholic beverages all included. Special theme nights and chef nights are also available for self-catering stays and special occasions.

Children and Mooney Bay

 

We love kids at Mooney Bay Estate, with our protected bay and open lawn space we are a kid's natural playground. Visit and feed our resident tortoises. Search for starfish in the seagrass. Pizza night and ice cream sundae afternoons are a favorite treat. Get a pull on the tube, kick out on the boogey boards, and jump off the Pelican dock with the biggest splash! Full or part time nanny services available for an additional fee

 

Arriving at Mooney Bay

 

The dramatically shaped island of Virgin Gorda reminded Christopher Columbus of a reclining woman, so he named it Virgin Gorda, the "Fat Virgin." The third largest island of the BVI, Virgin Gorda measures eight and a half square miles. At Mooney Bay Estates you have your own private beach and pool. You can also explore one of Virgin Gorda's deserted pristine beaches, such as Savannah Bay, Pond Bay, Devil's Bay, Mahoe Bay and Spring Bay. Or visit the most popular natural attraction in the BVI, The Baths, where huge granite boulders create mysterious grottos, saltwater pools and a connecting trail that entices visitors to spend a day exploring, swimming, and snorkeling. Explore Virgin Gorda on the rugged trails that run throughout the island, and see the huge variety of unique indigenous plants that thrive in the national parks at Gorda Peak, Devil's Bay, Spring Bay and the North Sound. At the nature sanctuary at Little Fort National Park, marvel at the exotic birds as they swoop over the hills and ocean. **

 

The seclusion of the islands of the BVI help keep our islands pristine, crowd-free and the feel of being on your own piece of paradise. As so, there are no direct flights to us unless flying by private jet. The main airport in the British Virgin Islands is the Terrence B. Lettsome Airport (EIS) located on Beef Island, a cay linked to the main island of Tortola. Airport code is EIS.

 

• From the USA: Fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) and we recommend a private charter onwards to Beef Island or one of the small scheduled commercial carriers American Eagle or Cape Air. Fly to St. Thomas US Virgin Islands (STT), catch a taxi to The American Yacht Harbour where our private launch (additional fees apply) will meet you with transfer direct to Mooney Bay Estate. You may also catch a private charter or a scheduled flight with Cape Air to Beef Island.
• From the UK: Fly via Antigua (ANU) on British Airways or Virgin Atlantic Airlines and have your choice of private charter with Island Birds or a scheduled commercial Liat Airlines flight to Beef Island.
• From France: Fly Air France to St. Maarten (SXM) and have your choice of private charter with Island Birds or Fly BVI or a scheduled commercial Liat Airlines flight to Beef Island.

 

Our captain will meet you once you have cleared immigration and customs at Beef Island and escort your party to our private boat for a scenic 30min ride direct to Mooney Bay Estate.
